In Sunday School today I was impressed by several members' knowledge of theology. I have felt convicted lately about my lack of Biblical knowledge. I should know the Bible backwards and forwards - and I don't. Not even close. You might say, "You don't have to know the Bible backwards and forwards to be a Christian." And this is true. But I think about how I can hear the first few seconds of a Friends episode and tell you exactly which episode it is and probably from which season that episode aired. I can quote several movies practically in their entirety - Steel Magnolias, Princess Bride, It's a Wonderful Life - I'm sure there are more. I have read the Harry Potter series twice. I should know the Bible better than I do. I hear a New Years resolution coming...

You know, honestly, sometimes I think it takes a good Christian to NOT know the Bible backwards and forwards. For me, it's all about seeking knowledge and there are so many variations on the Bible itself that it kinda leaves it all to speculation (well, SOME of it - there are the obvious things such as creation, the Ark, Christ, etc. that aren't up for debate). Faith is a personal thing between us and Christ - and sometimes knowing too much of the Bible can cloud that relationship. I don't know if that makes sense or not, LOL. But that's just kinda how I see things.
Love and miss y'all!
